O'Hare International Airport is just 40 minutes away.

As first time travelers to Chicago, we were NOT looking for cheapie accommodations, however this Hilton was way underpar for what we paid luxury prices for.

Upon arrival, there was no bellman to receive our heavy bags. We dragged our bags through the revolving doors up to the check in desk. There was no visible bellman or concierge desk and only ONE agent who was helping someone else. After several minutes wait, the agent advised us that the online booking agent did not confirm with the hotel, da da da da. This of course was not the hotel's fault, but surely added extended wait and angst for weary travelers. She then accommodated us without receiving the promised fax from the booking agent. (no name-dropping, but we used a very famous online booker, who the hotel said was frequently lax with confirmations, etc.)

Finally a person showed up and asked if he could help with our luggage and took them to our room. The room was clean, but small, which wasn't a major complaint, but the beds were extra firm and not what we would have ever selected or expected. When opened, the closet door kept bumping into the opened bathroom door as they were so close. The tv was very small which I also found to be true in the Anaheim Hilton Hotel in Ca. I have traveled exstensively and have not seen tvs as small as these anywhere. The refrigerator had to be turned off at night because it was too noisy.

We were on the 13th floor and heard some traffic and ambulances during the night, but otherwise, a quiet room. The walls were not soundproof and each morning at 7 am. we heard annoying kids whining and pounding the wall right behind our beds. Upon check out, we asked the agent if we could leave our bags as we were leaving in the evening. Instead of calling a bellhop, she actually came out, left the desk alone with no cover and took our bags to the back. We then tipped the check in agent as you would the bellhop!!

The Starbucks in the lobby was not open when we arrived at 11 am. We were informed that it closed at 10 am each morning. How inconvenient is that??? There were no other shops or cafes in the lobby but only a pantry with few items and a pricey restaurant.

I would definately never stay at this hotel again. it is NOT a full service hotel in any way, shape or form! When we returned to get our bags, once again, the agent actually left the desk alone and went to retrieve the baggage! This is usualy done at the concierge desk with bellhops but this hotel didn't have any!! LOL! Then I had to get my own taxi curbside, and they have a circular driveway but no attendant! We couldn't believe this as I have never seen this done in any hotel in any part of the world!! This hotel is like a one man show!

The only advantage is the locale, near the Magnificent Mile, and Starbucks across the street, as well as a supermarket and a convenience store. The subway is also outside the hotel but due to the many inconveniences in the hotel, you can find one nearby that surely would make it worthwile to avoid this dud!
